BlogtorWho takes a look at the new batch of Doctor Who companions with a closer look at Tosin Cole, who will play Ryan.
Before he was announced as new Doctor Who companion Ryan, Tosin Cole had a short, but very impressive CV. He started out in BBC teen drama The Cut in 2010 before going on to play Sol Levi in Eastenders spin-off show Eastenders:E20 where he had to show off his dance skills!
Cole played Neil Cooper in long-running UK soap opera Hollyoaks, which also starred Mandip Gill, who’ll play fellow new Doctor Who companion Yasmin. He also had a brief, but exciting stint as X-Wing pilot Lt Bastian in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This means that Tosin Cole joins the select group of actors who have had roles in both Star Wars and Doctor Who along with Warwick Davies, Felicity Jones and Darth Vader himself Dave Prowse.
Cole will be back among the stars in Doctor Who and we can’t wait to see him in action with everyone’s favourite Time Lord (Time Lady?) from Gallifrey. He said about joining the cast, “I’m grateful and excited to be a part of this journey with the team…I’m looking forward to jumping in this Doctor Who universe.”
The BBC has confirmed that the next series of Doctor Who will air in Autumn 2018 starting with a special hour-long show for the launch.
