Torchwood may not have made it back to the TV but it has certainly made its presence felt in the world of Titan Comics as it returns this month for a second action-packed story.
Previously in Torchwood: World Without End part 1….
Sir James Sterling, the master of Torchwood House in Scotland (viewers will remember this manor from the Doctor Who episode “Tooth and Claw”), has been murdered. His wife, Lady Karina, must find his notes to send to Captain Jack. Meanwhile, Jack has been reunited with Gwen on the Ice Maiden, a floating home for Torchwood.
This second of the Torchwood comic series begins as a huge battle between ninjas and the crew of the Ice Maiden rages. The issue once again features some hilarious, tongue in cheek descriptions of the crew. The action is fast and furious and even Shelley, the ship’s hard-light hologram, joins the fray.
Back in Scotland, Lady Karina mourns the loss of her husband at the hand of Captain John Hart, a rogue time agent who shot Sir James. She is desperate to find her late husband’s work which contains information she must share with Captain Jack. However, during her search accompanied by her faithful pet pooch, she discovers a mysterious and intriguing map.
The artwork throughout is excellent, and the cover, by Blair Shedd, is spectacular. Torchwood has long been a fan favourite and it’s thrilling to have Captain Jack and Gwen back. The alternate covers are stunning – with such a subject as Captain Jack, hardly a surprise. Fans who are still longing for the return of the show will greatly enjoy this action-packed series.
