The BBC will show a ‘sneak peek’ clip from this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special during Children in Need on Friday 17 November 2017.

The BBC has confirmed that it will show a scene from this year’s Christmas Doctor Who episode, Twice Upon A Time, during its annual Children in Need charity fund raising evening on 17 November.

Twice Upon A Time will be a particularly special episode as it is Peter Capaldi’s final appearance as the Twelfth Doctor. The episode will also feature Jodie Whittaker’s introduction as the Thirteenth Doctor and an extra special turn from David Bradley as the First Doctor.  This follows his beautiful portrayal of William Hartnell, who played the first incarnation of everyone’s favourite Time Lord from Gallifrey, in the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special An Adventure in Space and Time.

Children in Need has a tradition dating back to 2005 of showing special Doctor Who clips. Who can forget our first sighting of the tenth Doctor? We know that this year’s Children in Need clip will be a scene from Twice Upon A Time and not a standalone scene, as has happened in the past.  We also know that the clip will air some time during the pre-news slot, which takes place from 7:30pm to 10:00pm.

Other than that, we will have to wait to see what the BBC has in store for us.  We really, really hope to see our two Doctors together.  If nothing else, it will surely whet our appetites for the episode itself and give us plenty of time to go shopping for hankies!

Doctor Who will return to BBC One on Christmas day.
