To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cybermen, Big Finish has released Cybermen: The Complete Series 1 & 2.
Available together for the first time since their original release in 2005 and 2009, Cyberman: The Complete Series 1 & 2 collects all eight episodes, together with a ninth disc of bonus content, and includes a new featurette specially produced for this release. It is available for £25 on CD or £20 to download and as with the majority of Big Finish releases includes a complimentary digital copy with all CD orders.
The series is written by Nicholas Briggs – the co-executive producer of Big Finish, and the actor known as the voice of the Daleks and Cybermen – and James Swallow. The story begins with a war on Earth between humans and the Orion Androids, a human invention gone rogue. The President of Earth allows a secret group called the Scorpius to use technology they’ve found on an alien ship – Cybermen. Cybermen sense the chaos and step into the breach.
The set has been released to coincide with Tenth Planet’s Cybermen event. The guests include Sixth Doctor Colin Baker and Cybermen actors David Banks, Michael Kilgarriff, Reg Whitehead, Christopher Robbie, Mark Hardy, Brian Orrell, Paul Kasey, Barry Noble, Paul Kennington, Matthew Doman, Ruari Mears, Graham Cole and Jeff Wayne. Best of all, they will be selling glitter guns.
“There Is Nothing To Fear…”
Mankind is fighting a long and costly war with its android creations in the Orion System. The deadlock must be broken at all costs. The President of Earth is offered an unthinkable strategy that cannot be refused.
Deep below the ocean, an ancient spaceship has been discovered. One that contains the remains of the great civilisation we could have been if we’d taken another path. A purer path…
Now the Scorpius strategy is in full operation. Silver legions stand impassive in every city; mankind has sacrificed its freedoms and a web of lies and deceit draws ever tighter. Only one choice remains – resist or surrender…
