It has been announced today that Peter Capaldi will find time in his busy Doctor Who schedule to reprise his role in the second ‘Paddington’ movie.
Deadline has reported that Capaldi along with Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Madeleine Harris, Imelda Staunton and Samuel Joslin are all returning for a second crazy adventure with the lovable little bear. Ben Wilshaw will also return as the voice of Paddington.
Capaldi plays unpleasant neighbour Mr Curry in this new film adapted from Michael Bond’s classic children’s books. Stories that surround the comic adventures and mishaps of the lovable bear from Peru with a passion for all things British including marmalade sandwiches.
The original cast will be joined by English actor Hugh Grant as Windsor Gardens’ local celebrity, Phoenix Buchanan, a vain, charming acting legend whose star has fallen somewhat in recent years. Irish actor Brendan Gleeson is also signed up as Knuckles McGinty, a notorious safe-cracker and legendary strongman who becomes an unexpected new ally for Paddington.
Paddington 2, the sequel to the 2104 outing is again directed by award winner Paul King with a script by Simon Farnaby. David Heyman (Harry Potter) will produce for Heyday Films. Studiocanal will look after the film’s global distribution.
Principal photography has already begun.

Paddington happily settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, where he has become a popular member of the community, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes. While searching for the perfect present for his beloved Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, Paddington spots a unique pop-up book in Mr Gruber’s antique shop and embarks upon a series of odd jobs to buy it. But when the book is stolen, it’s up to Paddington and the Browns to unmask the thief.
